August 13, 2025 (Cape Cod, MA) – Heroes In Transition (HIT) is inviting the public to celebrate its new home at Madaket Place in Mashpee, as part of a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, August 20th, 4:30-6:30 pm.

HIT New Headquarters

The nonprofit’s headquarters is a two-floor space located at 766 Falmouth Road, Suite A9 in Mashpee. Next week’s event will include refreshments and the opportunity for the public to tour the new space, meet the Heroes In Transition team, and learn more about the programs and resources it offers to veterans, those currently serving, and military families in the region.

The first floor will be used to deliver its services with a space for yoga sessions, its REBOOT and REGROUP programs, Searching for Meaning and Seeking the I Am programs, and other activities. There is also a reading room that will be used for smaller group work and counseling. The upstairs features administrative offices as well as a conference room.

“We are so excited to welcome the community to our new space which represents the next stage in our organization’s growth,” said HIT Executive Director Silene Gordon. “We are proud to have a home where we can not only deliver our programs, but meet internally with staff and board members and externally with supporters, donors, and community partners. This will allow us to strengthen our work so we can assist more service members, veterans, and military families in the region.”

Now in its 16th year, HIT was formed by Board Chair Cyndy Jones and her late husband Kenneth, following the death of their only son, Marine Captain Eric A. Jones, who was killed in October 2009 while flying a combat mission in Afghanistan. The couple started HIT as a way to honor Eric’s life, service, and sacrifice.

Today, the nonprofit serves over 2,100 individuals on an annual basis through 15 unique programs. With its new headquarters, it will be able to offer a number of those programs onsite.

It will still work with other partners, including Alliance Equestrian Center in Sandwich, where it offers equine therapy for both families as well as veterans and service members. HIT also collaborates with FitPlan Cape Cod in Mashpee, to offer FIRM (Fitness In Real Motion), a six-week physical fitness and education initiative for veterans, military service members, and military spouses.

“While we will continue to offer some of our programs offsite, having a brick-and-mortar office space really allows us to enhance the delivery of our services and gives us a home that will serve as the foundation for the critical work we do in the community,” said Gordon.
