New Podcast Explores Cape Bridges’ Connection To Regional Economy

Cape Cod, MA — The Cape & Islands Bridges Coalition (CIBC) and the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, with support from The Davenport Companies, are proud to announce the launch of Bridge the Gap, a new podcast series designed to spotlight the critical role of the Sagamore and Bourne Bridges in the economic, social, and public safety fabric of Cape Cod.

Bridge the Gap is named to reflect the lack – or “gap”- of information about how the replacement of the Cape Cod Bridges is expected to positively impact Cape Cod’s year-round communities and regional economy. The series brings together local leaders across multiple industries for candid conversations about how the bridges shape daily life and long-term planning for businesses, community organizations, and residents alike.

The series is co-hosted by Paul Niedzwiecki, CIBC Co-Chair and CEO of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, and Matt Pitta, Director of Communications for The Davenport Companies. In the introductory episode, the hosts welcome Luisa Paiewonsky, Executive Director of Megaprojects Delivery at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT). Paiewonsky provides a foundational overview of the replacement project, explaining why both the Sagamore and Bourne Bridges are in urgent need of modernization and how the project is progressing.

The first episode of the podcast is available now via the Cape Cod Chamber’s website, with subsequent episodes to be released monthly. Episodes will feature discussion with leaders in different sectors of the regional economy, to include:

  • Public Safety and Emergency Management
  • Hospitality and Tourism
  • Nonprofit and Social Services
  • Construction, Trades, and Real Estate
  • Health and Medical Services

“The Cape Cod Bridges are more than transportation infrastructure – they are lifelines that support every aspect of our regional economy and quality of life. Given the scale of the bridges replacement project, there is of course the potential for misinformation and sensational news coverage. Bridge the Gap gives us a platform to bring clarity, credibility, and local voices into the conversation,” said Paul Niedzwiecki, CIBC Co-Chair and CEO of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce.

“The bridges replacement project is the most significant infrastructure undertaking our region has faced in generations. This podcast is an opportunity for residents, businesses, and visitors to hear directly from experts and community leaders about why these bridges matter and how we can work together to secure a strong future for the Cape,” said Dan Wolf, CIBC Co-Chair, Former State Senator, and Founder of Cape Air.
