Plymouth Center for the Arts Announces Kim Corben as First Executive Director in Organization’s History

PLYMOUTH, MA, ISSUED FEBRUARY 4, 2025 – Plymouth Center for the Arts(PCA) is thrilled to announce that Kim Corben has been selected to serve as the organization’s first executive director, effective March 1st.

Corben brings a strong track record of success and experience in arts and nonprofit organization management.  She also has experience serving as an organization’s first executive director – Corben was the first full-time executive director of the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra when she took on the role in 2014.  Under her leadership, the Plymouth Philharmonic has grown and flourished, taking its place as a premier arts organization south of Boston.

Additionally, Corben previously served as director of concert and event operations and as associate director of development for the Cape Cod Symphony & Conservatory of Music and Arts, and as the annual fund and membership manager and associate director of development for Plimoth Plantation (now Plimoth Pawtuxet).

In her new role, Corben will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational and financial oversight, and fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and innovation within the organization. She will serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for PCA, representing its mission and values, and will help lead the organization toward a mature nonprofit status.

Since its founding in 1967, Plymouth Guild, Inc. (dba Plymouth Center for the Arts) has successfully operated as a nearly all-volunteer organization, with a “working” Board of Directors and dedicated committees that provide leadership in developing and implementing exhibitions, classes, community events, and other programs. As the organization has grown, the Board has recognized the need for an Executive Director to help take the Arts Center to the next level by growing a robust donor base, creating strong, innovative administrative and fiscal structures, and overseeing operations to ensure the future vitality of the organization.

“This is a pivotal point for Plymouth Center for the Arts, which requires a new leader with perspective and experience who can help our organization expand and flourish, while remaining an inclusive and accessible community-based Arts Center that inspires people to discover and learn through art,” said Kathleen Dunn, Board Co-President, Plymouth Center for the Arts. “Kim has the needed perspective and experience and is the right person to help our organization move forward now.”

Nate Meyer, Plymouth Center for the Arts Board Co-President, added, “We are excited to welcome Kim to this new role. Her proven leadership and vision for the future will be invaluable as we work to ensure the continued growth and success of our organization. We believe her experience and dedication to the arts make her the perfect fit to help us advance our mission.”

“I am deeply honored and excited to serve as the first Executive Director of Plymouth Center for the Arts,” added Corben. “This is an exciting time for the Arts Center, and I’m truly inspired by the incredible work of the dedicated volunteers who have supported the organization throughout its 57-year history. I look forward to building on this strong foundation and working together to guide the organization into its next chapter of growth and success.”

About Plymouth Center for the Arts
Plymouth Center for the Arts had its beginnings in 1967 as the Plymouth Outdoor Art Show (a.k.a. the Tent Show) on the waterfront in Brewster Gardens.  This annual art show quickly became a tremendous success, attracting artists and visitors from all over the region.  After 20 years on the waterfront followed by several other locations, the organization opened Plymouth Center for the Arts on North Street in Plymouth, Massachusetts, in the historic Russell Library in July of 2007.

Plymouth Center for the Arts, a volunteer operated nonprofit organization, offers a wide variety of classes and workshops geared toward both young and adult students and special events and performances. Located just steps from Plymouth Rock and Plymouth’s waterfront on historic North Street, the beautifully restored 1902 Russell Library Gallery and 18th century Lindens Building possess uncommonly elegant gallery spaces and diverse work created by regional artists.  For more information, please call 508-746-7222 or visit www.artsplymouth.org.
