MARSHFIELD, MA, ISSUED OCTOBER 27, 2025… It was a night to remember as Road to Responsibility (RTR; http://roadtoresponsibility.org), one of the region’s largest and most successful nonprofit organizations supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, hosted its 37th Annual Making Lives Better Gala, raising a record-breaking $550,000 plus in support of its mission.
Held on October 9th at Granite Links in Quincy, the event welcomed some 300 supporters, partners, family, and friends of the organization. Former Boston news anchors Jackie Bruno and Liam Martin, now the owners of Newsmaker Marketing, emceed the festive evening which featured a cocktail reception, elegant dinner, and mobile bidding auction.
The gala spotlighted RTRs achievements over the past year, recounting the powerful stories that garnered media attention. The program also shined a light on RTR staff and their commitment to making a difference in the lives of those served by the organization.
A centerpiece of the evening was the premier of “Making Strides: The Michael McClendon Story.” The moving video chronicled one young man’s journey into adulthood and the transformative impact of Road to Responsibility’s support.
“Raising over $550,000 at this year’s gala is a testament to the incredible generosity of our community,” said Christopher T. White, Ed.D., president and CEO of Road to Responsibility, extending gratitude to the event’s many sponsors. “These funds will directly fuel our programs and help us continue transforming lives.”

Celebrating more than 37 years of making lives better, Road to Responsibility, Inc. (RTR) was established in 1988 with the overarching belief that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve to have full, rich, and rewarding lives in the community, and therefore works to provide the means, the opportunity, and the support necessary to allow citizens with disabilities to take their place as productive members of the community. RTR offers residential, work/employment, day habilitation and other day supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. RTR supports individuals with very diverse needs, including those with significant challenges who would otherwise go unserved if not for RTR. It succeeds where other organizations often fail, through the use of an integrated clinical behavioral approach. This model has proven successful and yielded positive results for the organization and the individuals served.
Road to Responsibility offers services to almost all the towns and communities throughout the South Shore and South Coast of Massachusetts, operates 49 residences as well as co-operative and supportive living apartments, and manages nine day-service locations that focus on education, employment, and community enrichment.
