SOUTH YARMOUTH – The Fund for Sandwich of The Cape Cod Foundation recently awarded $16,500 in grants to nonprofit organizations serving the community. “Our grantmaking continues to encompass all areas of community life and to impact a wide cross-section of residents,” said Madeleine Wing Adler, Chair of the Fund’s Advisory Committee..”This year’s recipients are supporting food security for neighbors in need, creating educational and recreational opportunities for youth, providing critical health and human services, and bringing unique cultural experiences to Sandwich.”
This year’s recipients are:
Alzheimer’s Family Support Center, $2,000
For No Cost Phone Support for people with Alzheimer’s and dementia-related disorders and care- givers in Sandwich
Boys and Girls Club of Cape Cod, $2,500
For after-school and summer programs serving Sandwich youth
Cape Cod and Islands Veteran’s Outreach Center, $2,500
For the Healthcare Access Transportation Program, which provides veterans from Sandwich with safe, worry-free transportation to Veteran’s Administration health care facilities in Providence and Boston.
Cape Cod Council of Churches / A Baby Center, $2,500
For providing free diapers and other essential needs for infants and children up to 5 years old Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, $1,000. For the Costal Explorer Science Van, which brings experiential Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) programming to Sandwich schools.
Cape Kid Meals, $2,500
For the Childhood Hunger Relief Program in Sandwich, which provides weekend food backpacks, school snacks, and vacation meals for local students to reduce food instability.
Cape Wellness Collaborative, $1,000
For wellness care for cancer patients and their caregivers in Sandwich.
Community Health Center, $1,000
To provide health screening, post-hospital discharge assistance, and referrals to Sandwich residents affected by health care challenges.
Sandwich Arts Alliance, $500
For “Where’s Sandwich?”, a hardcover book project that will celebrate the heritage, history, life experiences, and dreams of past and present Sandwich residents and stakeholders.
Sharing Kindness, $1,000
For clinician-led grief support for residents of the Shawme Heights Community. Since the Fund for Sandwich was established in 2017, it has awarded more than $113,000 in grants to 37 local nonprofit organizations. The Fund’s Advisory Committee will continue to seek private donations to support the wide range of nonprofits serving the Sandwich community and will conduct its ninth grantmaking process in 2025 to support additional organizations.
