[BARNSTABLE COUNTY, 1/30/2025] – YMCA Cape Cod is excited to announce that it has closed on the purchase of a 6.16 acre parcel from Christ Lutheran Church, located at 487 Brick Kiln Road in Falmouth. This purchase represents the latest significant step towards expanding services and continuing the Y’s mission. This land will serve as the site of The Don & Dottie Smith YMCA, a new state of the art YMCA facility for residents of Falmouth, Mashpee, and the surrounding communities.
“The Don & Dottie Smith YMCA will represent so much more than a building to the Upper Cape. This purchase represents the next step in fulfilling the community’s goal of having a full YMCA-facility on the Upper Cape,” said YMCA Cape Cod President & CEO, Stacie Peugh.
“We are excited to partner with the Y through the sale of this property,” said Linda Foster, President of Christ Lutheran Church. “Our shared values and visions will open opportunities for all ages in our community. We look forward to working together, as our dream of a lasting legacy comes to fruition through this partnership.”
YMCA Cape Cod anticipates site plan approval from the Town of Falmouth Planning Board in the coming weeks. The project is nearing the final stages of the town approval proccess.
The Don & Dottie Smith YMCA aims to be the heart of the community for the Falmouth area, fostering connections and encouraging active, engaged lifestyles for residents of all ages. The facility will feature a state-of-the-art wellness center, full size basketball court, walking track, aquatic center, and multi-purpose spaces for classes and community events. Additionally, it will offer programs tailored to children, teens, and seniors, ensuring all community members have access to enriching activities.
The anticipated timeline for groundbreaking could be as early as this fall. YMCA Cape Cod looks forward to working with the community to bring this vision to life. For updates on the project or information on how to support the initiative, please visit ymcacapecod.org/DDSYMCA
