Describe in detail the culture of the company and a recent experience supporting that.
This is an all-volunteer organization (except one admin - 12 hours per week) that focuses on building the small business and nonprofit community through mentoring and education. It is a collaborative environment where each volunteer contributes their experience to the success of the clients who engage us in achieving their dreams. We share our experiences with one another to give the best customer service.
Has the company/organization offered rewards or incentives for great customer service or a positive employee attitude?
In the past, when we met monthly in person we recognized a volunteer for their contribution to achieving the mission - individual mentoring success, event participation, extraordinary participation in chapter events or activities. Today with meeting virtually it is verbal recognition that has been the standard.
Does the organization offer training for levels of advancement? Is there room for growth?
We require all volunteers to be formally OnBoarded with a series of online training programs, trial mentoring activities, and having a Coach to guide them through the initial phases of the mentoring experience. Each year there are a variety of webinars and training activities that are available to Chapter Volunteers, aside from the annual Code of Ethics updates to reinforce the values that each Mentor agrees to uphold.
Does this organization promote from within, or hire outside when looking for employees?
It is an all-volunteer organization and we "promote" our leadership from existing volunteer members.
Provide an example of how this organization has recently gone above and beyond for an employee, team or client/customer.
A Board Chair came to us and felt that her Board needed to refocus as they rebuild. We designed a Board Assessment to determine where the Board felt they were and what was needed to make them more efficient and effective. Based on the Assessment, two mentors designed a series of training programs to help the Board organize itself (through a committee process), understand roles and responsibilities (between Board and Operational Management), and utilize a "skills assessment" to assist the Board succession committee to determine recruiting requirements.
Communication is key, how effective is the organization at communication with their employees and/or client/customer? *
We have a monthly meeting and a newsletter that keeps the members up-to-date and understand SCORE National inititiaves and the needs of the Chapter.
In what ways does the organization give back to their community? Please provide an example.
That is what we do! We give back through mentoring and education through workshops and webinars. There are over 50 volunteers that execute this mission.
Are you actively hiring/recruiting outside your organization?
We are always on the lookout for volunteers who want to give back and make a difference.
