Describe in detail the culture of the company and a recent experience supporting that.
The Culture here at Bakken Newton CPAs is that we are a family. We work hard together, but always make sure to stop and have a laugh with one another when we can. We are always thinking about each other and doing small things to show we care, whether it's buying someone's favorite snack to have at the office or checking in on how we are doing or what we may have going on in our lives. I recently went through a rough patch in my life - I was displaced from my living situation and needed to find an apartment fast in the middle of what would be considered a housing crisis in Mass. My boss, James Newton, supported me through the whole process and made sure I knew I had someone to talk to and to help me if needed. My co-workers helped me to find affordable furniture and always checked in to make sure I was eating enough during the first few days at my new apartment. I truly feel like I have a second family here, and that experience solidified that.
Has the company/organization offered rewards or incentives for great customer service or a positive employee attitude?
Yes, I have been incentivized frequently for working hard, especially during tax season.
Does the organization offer training for levels of advancement? Is there room for growth?
Absolutely. There is always an opportunity for growth here when you work hard and are willing to learn new things. I have personally been provided with the resources both financially and time-wise to take training courses and study for certifications and licenses that would advance my career. I have been given the opportunity for promotions, raises, and other forms of compensation for working hard and learning as much as I can to support the clients and staff.
Does this organization promote from within, or hire outside when looking for employees?
I would say the organization will always promote from within if it puts the employee in a better situation than they were in before. But, when support is needed for the staff we already have, the company will hire outside.
Provide an example of how this organization has recently gone above and beyond for an employee, team or client/customer.
As mentioned above, I recently went through a rough patch in my life - I was displaced from my living situation and needed to find an apartment fast in the middle of what would be considered a housing crisis in Mass. My boss, James Newton, supported me through the whole process and made sure I knew I had someone to talk to and to help me if needed. My co-workers helped me to find affordable furniture and always checked in to make sure I was eating enough during the first few days at my new apartment. Everyone checked on me every single day until they knew I was settled in.
Communication is key, how effective is the organization at communication with their employees and/or client/customer? *
We are always communicating here at Bakken Newton CPAs. We pride ourselves on maintaining close relationships and open lines of communication with our clients. Internally, we always share our needs and concerns with one another and management is extremely receptive to the opinions of the staff. I can say that I very much feel heard and respected at this organization.
In what ways does the organization give back to their community? Please provide an example.
We provide support to small businesses and business owner's who would otherwise be overwhelmed and lost in the world of accounting, finance, and tax. Especially during these last few years through the COVID pandemic, we have worked hard to stay on top of all of the new grant and loan programs that have provided our clients with crucial funding to essentially keep businesses running, allowing the business owner's to take care of themselves and their families. I like to think that we help take sources of stress for a lot of people off of their plates.
