Honoree Name: Brian Greer
Company: Greer Real Estate, Barnstable
Career background / highlights: I graduated with a degree in Communications. After college I was a teacher and then earned my real estate license to sell part time. After a few years of doing both, I resigned from teaching and went full time real estate. I started Greer Real Estate in December 2015 and we now have 24 agents, an office in Barnstable Village and are now one of the top independently owned brokerages on Cape Cod!
Community commitment: Member, Cape & Islands MLS Board of Directors; member, Town of Sandwich Capital Planning and Improvement Committee; trustee, Hyannis Yacht Club; member, Cape Cod Young Professionals; member, Cotuit Mariners Lodge of the Freemasons.
Favorite professional moment: The moment when you tell a buyer their offer has been accepted on a house. That moment is full of hope, excitement, gratitude, success and it's before the doldrum of paperwork, loan applications, inspections, etc., start.
Who is your role model / mentor? My father, Bill Greer. My father is an electrician and one of the hardest working people I know who values honesty and integrity above all else. He is an accomplished, award winning sailor who taught my siblings and a love and respect for the sea. He will always help those in need as long as it's within the length of his cable-tow.
What mistake has taught you the most? Over-committing. Saying yes is fun... but too many yeses cause big problems.
What one book has impacted your life? “Start.: Punch Fear in the Face, Escape Average, and Do Work That Matters” by Jon Acuff.
What is your superpower? Not taking myself too seriously.
Where can you be found on the weekends? During the summer, on the water in Lewis Bay and Nantucket Sound. During the rest of the year, at soccer fields all over Massachusetts, watching our kids play.
