Author E. J. Gale

October 30, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

West Falmouth Library is pleased to host an author talk by Cape resident E. J. Gale, writer of legal thrillers, including his latest, AWAY GAME: An Alan Knight Legal Thriller, on Tuesday, October 19th at 1pm.

Book synopsis: Alan Knight is a prosecutor who is relegated to an out-of-the-way branch office by his superior, a vengeful attorney general. He uncovers an alarming connection between his boss, the local mafia family, and New York drug importers.

Author bio: Following my graduation from the U. S. Naval Academy and Navy service, I attended Santa Clara University School of Law where I was invited on to Law Review and awarded Moot Court honors. Upon graduation, I chose to return east to accept an appointment as a trial attorney with the Criminal Division of the U. S. Department of Justice. It was a career involving a fascinating variety of cases including organized crime, public corruption, large-scale drug investigations, and major frauds. After service as a court-appointed United States Attorney, I was appointed to the Rhode Island Superior Court bench from which I am now retired. It is from the nearly countless criminal cases that I either prosecuted or presided over that I find the inspiration for what I hope are exciting stories. Being truly fictional, I am able to mix into the plots, more than an accent of romance.

This is great fun for me. The intended series involving protagonist Alan Knight features a zealous prosecutor who is fair, tough, and lucky. This brings him into the crosshairs of not only mobsters but also fictional corrupt public figures with whom he must work and outsmart. Set principally in New England, the series could just as easily come out of Chicago, Oklahoma, Louisiana, or any other venue where crime and public officials make easy companions. The second book of the series, Bloody Laundry is inspired by my travel to the Cayman Islands as a federal prosecutor investigating major bank fraud.

The background for the third book in the Alan Knight series is being researched. The working title for the adventure is Stateroom 734; it will involve political murders on the high seas I live on Cape Cod, Massachusetts with my wife, who writes mysteries, and a pet (concrete) hedgehog.
