Describe in detail the culture of the company and a recent experience supporting that.
I have been an employee of South Shore Generator for 7 years. I am still amazed at the way this company treats its employees. Often times our opinions and ideas are requested so that the company can improve business processes and the way we work. This goes a long way with the team because they feel as though they are part of the decision-making and feel respected. The owners are involved with their employees and are focused on how they can do things a little differently to set SSG apart from other companies. Ownership has an annual event for the entire team, shutting down the business to celebrate everyone who is responsible for the success of the company. This is just one example of how they show their appreciation. We have technology in place to assist in understanding the team and how they work, and other investments to ensure we are training and coaching our employees so they can produce at a high level. This has helped achieve a 96% retention of our employees over the last several years. The longest employed is the first employee hired 37 years ago and he is still going strong. The longevity of the entire team is very impressive and demonstrates why SSG is one of the best places to work!
Has the company/organization offered rewards or incentives for great customer service or a positive employee attitude?
Great customer service is very important today and SSG will give gifts for positive feedback from customers we also recognize those employees that work well in the team setting. This can be in the form of additional increases in pay, incentive pay, and gift cards.
Does the organization offer training for levels of advancement? Is there room for growth?
Yes, SSG provides training at all levels, including advanced schooling along with internal training. There is consistent coaching and mentoring for all. Being a small company but one that is expanding, there are opportunities to grow.
Does this organization promote from within, or hire outside when looking for employees?
SSG does both. One of our office staff has recently been promoted to a supervisory position and is attending training at this time. We have also just hired a couple of new people to handle the growth we have seen over the last few years.
Provide an example of how this organization has recently gone above and beyond for an employee, team or client/customer.
As noted above we recently promoted a very strong and committed employee, but we also recognized that she may need some assistance in handling employees on a different level. SSG is dedicated to the success of this employee and is investing in her education and training classes to be sure she is able to perform her new duties as well as she has performed her duties in the past.
Communication is key, how effective is the organization at communication with their employees and/or client/customer? *
One-on-ones are conducted each year, some quarterly and some monthly. This is so there are never any surprises and the employees are kept in the loop of all things pertaining to South Shore Generator. This helps to encourage even more discussions about how the company can be better and makes employees feel they are part of the process.
In what ways does the organization give back to their community? Please provide an example.
South Shore Generator believes strongly in supporting and giving back to the community. This includes fund-raiser donations to DECA/Wareham High School and is also a member of the local Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber as just a couple of examples.
Are you actively hiring/recruiting outside your organization?
Yes, we are looking for a part-time admin/office employee and full-time sales manager currently.
