The Cape Cod Foundation Awards Over $6.5 Million in Grants and Scholarships During 2024

South Yarmouth—In 2024, The Cape Cod Foundation awarded over $6.5 million in grants to
nonprofit organizations and scholarships to local students from more than 330 charitable funds it
administers. Since inception in 1989, the Foundation has distributed more than $106 million
back into the community.

As part of its 35th anniversary celebration in 2024, the Foundation also launched a $3.5
Community Challenge to build additional, flexible resources to support all aspects of community
life, including educational scholarships; environmental conservation and preservation; health
and human services; housing; workforce and career development; and youth development. By
year’s end, the organization raised $3.1 million and met 89% of its goal.

“These new resources will enable us to make three to five additional, multi-year, broadscale
investments in key areas and maximize our impact throughout Cape Cod every year,” said
Kristin O’Malley, President and CEO of The Cape Cod Foundation. O’Malley said the Foundation also awarded more than $280,000 in Anniversary Grants to eight nonprofit organizations working in these key impact areas in 2024. The recipients each received a multi-year grant totaling $35,000 for unrestricted and/or operational support. The recipients were: Alzheimer’s Family Support Center; Amplify POC Cape Cod; Behavioral Health Innovators; Belonging to Each Other; Community Connections; Community Development Partnership; Homeless Prevention Council; and The Compact of Cape Cod Environmental Trusts.

The Foundation reported other key accomplishments for 2024:
▪ Provided over $1.5 million in scholarship support to more than 500 local students with its
partner the Cape Cod Association

▪ Created a Post Secondary Success Series featuring free webinars conducted by subject
experts to support students beyond scholarship dollars

▪ Awarded over $294,000 in grants to 12 nonprofit organizations during the 4th year of its
Targeted Nonprofit Capacity Building Program to support initiatives that will help them
reach the next level of operational, programmatic, financial, or organizational maturity.

▪ Reached a milestone for The Women and Girls Fund of The Cape Cod Foundation by
raising $500,000 toward its goal to build a $1million endowment by the end of 2027 to
support local programs and initiatives advancing women and girls across Cape Cod.

“We’ve been able to achieve significant growth and deepen our investment throughout the
region by building a community of support—from individual donors and business partners to
private foundations and funding collaboratives,” O’Malley said. “Working together works.”
