Falmouth Chamber To Honor Jay Zavala As ‘Outstanding Citizen’

Falmouth resident and community advocate Jay Zavala will be honored as the 2022 Outstanding Citizen of the Year  at The Falmouth Chamber of Commerce 108th Annual Meeting and Award Dinner on Wednesday, April 27, at The Sea Crest Beach Hotel. The event is sponsored by Cape Cod 5.

Zavala has served as president of the Barnstable County Agricultural Society, vice president of the American Parkinson Disease Association Massachusetts Chapter, chair of Continuing and Adult Education Advisory Committee of Upper Cape Regional Technical School, and vice chair of the Cape Cod Commission.  He has served on the FCTV Advisory Council and as an FCTV production volunteer, the Steering Committee for MMR Homeland Security Coalition, Falmouth Charter Review Committee, Advisory Boards of Neighborhood Falmouth and Falmouth Preservation Alliance, Cape Cod Economic Development Council, Falmouth Cable Advisory Committee, and Strategic Planning Steering Committee of Cape Cod Community College. 

Zavala has also served on several boards of directors including Falmouth Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Fairwinds Clubhouse, Falmouth Housing Trust, Open Cape Corporation and Falmouth Economic Development and Industrial Corporation and has been a volunteer in numerous other organizations.  Zavala has served as an election official and as a town meeting member for more than 10 years.

“It is a sincere privilege to honor Jay as our 2022 Citizen of the Year,” said Falmouth Chamber President Michael Kasparian.  “In addition to being a friend, mentor, and role model for so many of us, Jay has displayed an amazing amount of energy and accomplishment while advocating for our community since moving to Falmouth in 2000.”
