The Arc of the South Shore, a family-oriented, community-based nonprofit providing information, referrals and community programs for individuals with disabilities, raised more than $14,000 during the Kellianne Memorial Ride.
The Aug. 20 event was held in honor of client Kellianne Burke, who passed away last October at the age of 33.
An estimated 100 people participated in the fundraiser, starting off from The Lakeville Eagles Club. Motorcyclists joined the Iron Order Motorcycle Club for a scenic motorcycle ride in loving memory of Kellianne Burke, who benefitted greatly from services she received from The Arc of the South Shore.
A post ride celebration held at The Lakeville Eagles Club featured a highly successful raffle, refreshments, and live entertainment by Leslie Gage and Friends, who generously donated their performance time and talent.
All proceeds from what is expected to be an annual event will benefit The Arc’s mission to empower people with disabilities.
Kellianne was born with Down Syndrome and suffered from several health issues throughout her life, defying the odds by living to the age of 33. Despite her challenges, she lived life to the fullest, taking great pleasure in watching movies and listening to lively music.
“We cannot say thank you enough to all who came out to honor Kellianne and support the Arc,” said Abigail Parrilla, chief executive officer of The Arc of the South Shore. “The Burke family found a way to turn their heartbreak and loss into a powerful way to not only remember Kellianne but also improve the lives of other people with disabilities. We are so thankful.”
