The Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Cape Cod’s (HB&RACC) 2023 LEGO Children’s Home Building Competition takes place Saturday, Aug. 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Johnny A. Kelley Recreation Park in South Dennis. Children ages 5 to 12 are welcome.

During the event, children construct homes out of LEGOs with the opportunity to win awards for creativity and structural awareness. Industry experts comprise the judging panel. They will use a list of criteria based on real-life building codes to inspect the LEGO homes and determine the winners. The judging panel will award first, second and third place awards in each builder group. Builder groups include ages 5 through 8 and ages 9 through 12.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. and construction begins at 11 a.m. HB&RACC provides LEGOs, t-shirts, prizes and lunch for the children. There will also be entertainment by Malik the Magician.

Lunch will be available at a cost for adults. Please advise if there are any dietary concerns or restrictions.

“In the home building and skilled trades industries here on Cape Cod, we look at our workforce development programming holistically,” said Chris Flanagan, Executive Officer of HB&RACC. “This event is a fun way to introduce children to the building industry and to get them engaged early.”

A portion of the proceeds will go toward Colorful Kidz, an organization that creates room makeovers for kids in need, from ages 2 to 18, on Cape Cod.

Registration is required and tickets are $40 per builder. Register here.
