Community Connections Inc., a nonprofit serving people with disabilities throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod, has announced that Dr. Thomas Tomasik has joined its board of directors.

“Raising a child on the autism spectrum, my wife and I understand the challenges that people with disabilities and their families must face every day,” said Tomasik. “Community Connections is the perfect organization for me to support because they are helping people with disabilities live a more independent and fulfilling life.”

After graduating from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in experimental psychology, Tomasik earned his doctorate in optometry from New England College of Optometry. He has been a practicing optometrist at Sheinkopf & Tomasik Eye Care Associates in South Yarmouth since 1999 and became senior partner and owner in 2005.

Tomasik’s community service includes past president of the Rotary Club of Yarmouth and past chairman of Newburyport Yankee Homecoming, as well as by holding several positions in the Lions Club of Newburyport. He has been a member of the Rotary Club of Yarmouth since 1999, is a Paul Harris fellow in Rotary International, and has been named the Yarmouth Rotary Club Rotarian of the Year.

“Tom brings skills that complement our current board of local business and community leaders who are committed to making a difference for people with disabilities,” said David Botting, president and CEO, Community Connections Inc. “I am excited for what the future holds because we are continuing to cultivate relationships within the community to advance our mission of promoting optimal independence for people with disabilities.”
