South Shore Food Bank’s 2nd Annual Hunger Games Cornhole Tournament Raises Over $13,000 to Support Mission

ROCKLAND, MA, ISSUED AUGUST 23, 2024… The South Shore Food Bank, working in partnership with the Greater Boston Food Bank to improve food access on the South Shore, help address food equity across towns, and help make fresh options more readily available to families relying on food pantries to meet their needs, recently held its 2nd Annual Hunger Games Cornhole Tournament, raising more than $13,000 to support its mission.
 
Held on August 3rd at Stellwagen Beer Co. in Marshfield, 17 teams battled it out to be this year’s tournament winner and when the final tally was made, the team from South Shore Bank was the victor.

Live music by Bob Cushman, and food and drinks by the Cheesy Chicks food truck and Stellwagen Beer Co. were other highlights of the day, as was a raffle with items donated by local businesses, including Talbots, Jason Cole Photography, Birchbarn Designs, and the Marriott Boston Quincy. The event also included a 50/50 raffle and a special raffle with one lucky winner coming away with two tickets to the Kenney Chesney and the Zac Brown Band, Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour at Gillette Stadium.
Event sponsors included Sullivan Tire & Auto Service, South Shore Bank, The Rug Merchant, Colonial Federal Savings Bank, DoorDash, Coastal Heritage Bank, Kam Appliances, Coldwell Banker – Lansing Palmer, George Washington Toma, Resident Salon Services, Irish Eyes Photography, Liberty Bay Credit Union, and South Weymouth Barbershop.
“Our 2nd Annual Hunger Games Cornhole Tournament was a huge success thanks to our incredible sponsors, participants, donors, and volunteers,” said Pamela Denholm, executive director of the South Shore Food Bank. “The funds raised by this fun, community event will help to support our mission to expand food access and food equity on the South Shore.”
