Acella Construction Corporation President David Dirubbo has been named this year’s Twenty-First Century Leadership Award recipient from the Mayflower Council, Boy Scouts of America.

The awards dinner, held at Lombardo’s in Randolph, recognized Dirubbo and Acella for representing the ideas of the Scout Oath and Law and for good corporate citizenship and philanthropic support to the community.

“The honoree’s work and leadership exemplify the ideals and success of the Boy Scouts of America. The organization’s corporate citizenship and community involvement set the example of what can be achieved  through hard work, leadership, and character traits,” according to Scout officials.

Dirubbo was one of three honorees at the event. The others included James Dunphy, CEO of South Shore Bank, Distinguished Citizen; and Arnold Briggs, retired educator, Distinguished Scouter.

Scouting is a strong tradition within the Dirubbo family. Dirubbo recalls that he was a Scout as a child in Troop 8 in Stoughton, that his father was a den leader and his son was a Scout in Norwell.

“Boy Scouts taught respect, honor and appreciation,” he said. “I’m very honored to have been chosen for this award. We appreciate the great work that Scouting does and how it helps give kids memories of a lifetime.”
