FALMOUTH, Mass. – Organizers of the ASICS Falmouth Road Race have officially announced the registration dates for the 52nd annual event taking place Aug. 18. Falmouth resident applications will be accepted starting May 1 and closing May 7, while general registration for non-Falmouth residents will be open from May 8 to May 17. The selection process for non-residents is done at random, and registrants may create a team of up to 15 people for the purpose of registration only. This way the team is selected, or not, as a whole. Those looking to register can visit the event’s website.
Falmouth Road Race, Inc. also offers the opportunity to join a charity team through its Numbers for Nonprofits program, where runners are guaranteed an entry while raising money for a great cause. The Numbers for Nonprofits program is presented in partnership with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, who have been participating in the program for 22 years. This program has helped raise over $63.7 million for Massachusetts-based charity organizations since 2000, which includes a record-breaking $7.2 million raised at the 2023 event. Participants interested in running on a charity team are encouraged to reach out to a charity team captain to learn about joining their team. Charity teams and team captain contact information can be found on the Falmouth Road Race website under the Run for a Charity Team page.
“We are so thrilled to kick-off our registration process as we count down to race day this summer. We look forward to welcoming returning and new runners to Falmouth every year,” said Jennifer Edwards, executive director of Falmouth Road Race, Inc. “It’s always wonderful to see the excitement that runners, whether local, from across the nation or around the globe have for our event. We’re grateful to have such strong support from the town and we’re looking forward to welcoming over 1,000 more participants this year as we expand our field size from 10,000 to 11,400.”
The Falmouth Road Race was established in 1973 and has become one of the premier running events of the summer season. Each year the race draws an international field of Olympians, elite athletes and recreational runners to enjoy the iconic 7-mile seaside course. Race weekend also features a variety of other events. The invitational Falmouth Track Festival, presented by ASICS, will take place the Friday of race weekend and will welcome high school and elite milers to compete. The following day, the SBLI Family Fun Run will host kids ages 2-12 to compete in their own races, while also providing an abundance of booths and activities for all to enjoy. Throughout the weekend the Health & Fitness Expo will be taking place, welcoming over 20,000 visitors to browse the various booths featuring the latest in running, fitness and uniquely Cape Cod items.
