Atlantic White Shark Conservancy Hosts Booksigning With White Shark Tracker

The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy will host Dr. Greg Skomal, a world-renowned great white shark expert, for a book signing event for his recently published “Chasing Shadows: My Tracking the Great White Shark” Saturday, July 22, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the shark center located at 235 Orleans Road, Chatham.

The book, co-authored by Ret Talbot and published by William Morrow, presents a remarkable account of the resurgence of great white sharks and the delicate balance between conservation and public safety.

Skomal, in addition to being an accomplished marine biologist, underwater explorer, photographer and author, is a leading white shark expert in the Atlantic. He is a senior fisheries biologist with the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries and currently directs the Massachusetts Shark Research Program.

Skomal has authored dozens of scientific research papers and has appeared in several film and television documentaries, including programs for National Geographic, Discovery Channel, PBS and numerous television networks.  He is also a regular on TV’s “Shark Week” and “Shark Fest” and is the author of “The Shark Handbook.”

The event is free and books will be available at the Shark Center gift shop.
