How did we find this data?
To determine the best metro areas for first-time homebuyers, ConsumerAffairs analyzed 9 factors related to finances (50% weighting) and quality of life (50%). After scoring factors based on the latest available data for 153 major metros, an overall ranking was calculated. We also polled first-time homebuyers to uncover the top factors that guide their new home selections.
