The Barnstable Youth Commission will present its sixth annual Youth Job Fair for ages 14 through 18 Thursday, March 3, at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

The job fair is designed is to create a resource for job-seeking youth throughout the region to access job opportunities, job coaching and advice about entering the workforce. In addition, it serves as a resource for businesses that support the Youth Commission’s efforts to facilitate and encourage eager and qualified candidates to fill year- round and summer positions.

Local businesses that are hiring youth between the ages of 14 and 18 will be on hand with applications, ready to interview and hire the right applicants. Professional job coaching will be available during the event to answer questions about labor laws and offer guidance to students in being successful with their first job. There are limited spaces for employers who are hiring for paid positions for this age group and participation is free.

Online applications are available here.

There is limited space for businesses that plan to hire youth. Businesses can contact Amy Harwood at amy.harwood@town.barnstable.ma.us for more information.

The Youth Commission plans to hold this event in person this year, due to the strong recommendations of past employer participants who want to staff up for the busy summer season. It is also timed well for student athletes who are wrapping up their winter seasons and wanting to secure summer jobs. Students from all public and private high schools in the region are invited so that stores with multiple locations can benefit from participating in this event. More than 230 students attended the last in-person event held in 2020.
