The Big 3 Fishing Tournament held on July 7 raised more than $675,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands. The event celebrated its 10th anniversary year as the agency’s largest fundraiser and has once again set the record for the most revenue generated for the BBBS mission in the region.
Forty boats registered to participate in the tournament that took place in waters surrounding the Cape and Nantucket.
The event kicked off with an evening Captain’s Reception at the Harwich Port Boat Yard on July 6, sponsored by the full-service business and Oyster Harbors Marine. The fishing tournament was followed by a reception at Wychmere Beach Club sponsored by Robert B. Our, Inc. and
Cape Cod Ready Mix.
The biggest fish weighed in was a 12.8-pound. striped bass from Team Alicat and an 11.2 pound bluefish from Team Kingsbury. Points were awarded for each bluefin tuna caught and released, and Team Scup Slayer took home the win in this category. New this year: the overall youth angler award went to Stella Rose who reeled in 69 fish; and overall female angler went to Anne Bucs.

Since inception in 2014, the Big 3 Fishing Tournament has raised more than $3.825 million and contributed to BBBSCCI creating over 1,345 new mentoring friendships for under-resourced youths on the Cape & Islands.
