Boards in the Stores, a community initiative led by the Orleans Chamber of Commerce, is bringing together businesses, artists and the community to showcase these collaborations through surfboards creatively painted and designed by local artists.

Chamber eventAs part of the event, a scavenger hunt is also taking place open to the public, with scavenger hunt sheets available at the chamber office located at 44 Main St. in Orleans. Participants visit businesses with boards and check them off their list, and then return the completed sheets to the Orleans Chamber office for a chance to win the grand prize, an Orleans-themed gift basket.

The Orleans Chamber created this initiative and Nauset Marine provided the blank surfboards. There are also a number of sponsors including: Big Kahuna Level- Friends Marketplace, Cape Cod Chronicle and Cape Cod 5;  Long Board Level- Hole in One, Agway, The Cove Motel, The Farm and Beach Road Properties.

The boards have been on display at participating businesses until Aug. 5 coinciding with the kickoff of Summerfest. An auction will present the painted surfboards. Bidding on the boards can be done at  https://www.accelevents.com/e/boards-in-the-stores. So far almost $10,000 has been raised. The Orleans Chamber of Commerce will receive 50 percent of the final bid amount, while the remaining 50 percent will go to the respective artists.
