‘Boards in the Stores’ Kicks-Off In Orleans

Surfboards designed by local artists and displayed at businesses are up for auction through the Orleans Chamber of Commerce initiative, “Boards in the Stores.”

Boards in the Stores, Orleans chamberThe chamber collaborated with Mainsail Events, who organized the initiative, as well as Nauset Marine, who made the blank surfboards.  Fifty boards were purchased by local businesses who then assigned local artists to paint/design them and they were then presented at a kick-off party on May 24 at The Barley Neck.

The boards will be on display through Aug. 5 at participating businesses and then auctioned off. The auction will feature the painted boards, residents and visitors the chance to acquire these one-of-a-kind pieces. Bid on the boards at https://www.accelevents.com/e/boards-in-the-stores.  The Orleans Chamber of Commerce will receive 50 percent and the artist will receive the other 50 percent of the final bid.

Starting in mid-June, residents and visitors will also have the opportunity to embark on a Boards in the Store scavenger hunt adventure throughout Orleans. Scavenger hunt forms will be available for pick-up at the Orleans Chamber of Commerce and participating businesses. The date will be announced in the coming weeks. Participants can explore the town, discovering the boards displayed at various locations. The completed scavenger hunts forms can be returned to the Orleans Chamber of Commerce at 44 Main St. Participants who submit their completed scavenger hunt forms will be entered into a prize drawing for an Orleans-themed gift basket.
