Buzzards Bay Business District Partners With OpenCape, Town of Bourne, Chamber

OpenCape, Cape Cod’s only 100 percent Fiber Optic Network, in partnership with the Town of Bourne and the Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce are building a state-of-the-art 10G XPS PON on Main Street Buzzards Bay to provide businesses and residents with secure, resilient fiber connection with unmatchable upload and download speeds, and a reliable connection.

Learn more about this project at an educational session on Thursday, April 6, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Hampton Inn, 12 Kendall Rae Place, Buzzards Bay. Admission to the session is free; coffee and pastries will be served.  Space is limited so registration is required. RSVP by April 3 to kevin@opencape.org.

Because it is the downtown core and targeted economic development area, Buzzards Bay Village is the primary area in which the network infrastructure will be built.

“Our goal is to inform as many businesses as possible that they can increase their internet capabilities and have access to affordable broadband services. OpenCape has a reliable and stellar reputation for initiating community-led programs connecting people all over the region,” said Marie Oliva, President & CEO, Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber, who is hosting the informational session.

“We are listening and responding to the small business owners who want a choice in providers, reliable and affordable internet, not just for today but for many years to come,’ said Steve Johnston, OpenCape CEO. ‘As a local nonprofit provider, we know how important it is to support our local economy, and creating a future-proof network for our region helps foster a sustainable future.”
