The Cape and Islands United Way’s annual “Community Day of Action,” takes place on Thursday, Oct. 26.
More than 75 volunteers from local businesses are participating in the one-day commitment, which ranges from beautification efforts to organizing food pantries at area nonprofits.
The following volunteer groups will be participating in the following projects:
- A Baby Center (Nantucket) – Volunteers from Cape Cod 5 will be working on an “Open House” event.
- A Baby Center (Hyannis) – Volunteers from Cape Cod 5 will help with diaper bundling and Dottie Bag assembly.
- Hyannis Health Ministry (Hyannis) – Volunteers from Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod will be helping the organization.
- Boys & Girls Club of Martha’s Vineyard (Martha’s Vineyard) — Volunteers from Martha’s Vineyard Insurance will be helping with the food security program.
- Nantucket Interfaith (Nantucket) – Volunteers from Granite City Electric and Cape Cod 5 will be helping during food distribution day.
- WE CAN/Amplify (Hyannis) – Volunteers from LIFE will be helping with a flyer distribution project.
- Gosnold (Falmouth) – Volunteers from Eversource will be working on a painting project.
- Cape Cod Children’s Place (Eastham) – Volunteers from Women United will be beautifying an outdoor space.
- Cape Cod Foster Closet (Orleans) – Volunteers from Sheriff Buckley’s Team will be organizing a winter clothing drive.
- Lower Cape Outreach Council (Orleans) – Volunteers from LIFE will be beautifying the outdoor space.
- Cape Kids Meals (Osterville) – Volunteers from the Red Cross, Granite City Electric, Glivinski and Associates Inc., Rockland Trust, the United Way Board of Directors and Women United will be packing 600 backpacks.
- Sandwich Schools (Sandwich) – Volunteers from the Cape Cod Coast Guard will be working on painting projects with the schools.
