Learn about Cape Cod Academy’s sailing program at the school’s free Sailing Summit Wednesday, May 3, at 6:30 p.m.

All families from Cape Cod, the South Coast and South Shore are invited. Rob Hurd, Director of Sailing Operations at Cape Cod Academy, will explain his vision for the sailing program and one-, three- and five-year plans for the sailing team. He will explain the seamless transition from middle school to varsity sailing (grades 6 through 12) for the best possible experience for aspiring sailors.

Hurd has worked with hundreds of students in his 41-year high school career, developing many future college All-Americans. He is one of only five Master Instructor Trainers in the country. Appointed by US Sailing, the US governing body of the sport of sailing, Master Instructor Trainers work closely with the National Faculty to create a modern, adaptable, national curriculum to introduce sailing and racing to a new generation of sailors. In this role, Hurd is responsible for training the individuals who go on to train the sailing instructors. He is currently the Administrator of the Southern Mass Sailing Association, serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the New England Schools Sailing Association (NESSA), and is Vice President of the Interscholastic Sailing Association (ISSA), the national governing body of high school sailing.

Cape Cod Academy is located at 50 Osterville-West Barnstable Road, Osterville.
