CENTERVILLE, Mass., December 13, 2023 – The Cape Cod Blue Economy Foundation, an initiative led by the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce to promote and sustain a regional maritime-focused economy, has appointed Patrick Cassidy and Christin Marshall to its Board of Directors.

Cassidy is the owner of two Cape Cod-based Blue Economy businesses: Cape Cod on the Fly, a fly-fishing guide service; and New England Maritime, a school that provides U.S. Coast Guard and state-approved courses and testing for mariners seeking a merchant mariner credential or boating safety certification, as well as FCC testing and CPR/First Aid certification.

Before founding Cape Cod on the Fly and acquiring New England Maritime, Cassidy spent 15 years as a reporter and then news editor at the Cape Cod Times. Cassidy earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Connecticut.

Marshall has served as Executive Director of Entrepreneurship for All (EforAll) Cape Cod, an inclusive business accelerator, since 2018. Since its launch on Cape Cod, more than 130 local entrepreneurs have graduated from EforAll’s free business accelerator program. She has also led Massachusetts Executive Office of Economic Development (EOED) grant-funded efforts to launch blue economy businesses on Cape Cod through a partnership with Provincetown Commons.

Marshall earned a Master of Business Administration from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and completed a year of service with AmeriCorps Cape Cod focusing on natural resource management and disaster preparedness activities.

“Patrick and Christin will contribute invaluable real-world experience, insight and in-depth knowledge to the Board of Directors regarding what it takes to create and grow a blue economy focused business on Cape Cod and the Islands,” said Paul Niedzwiecki, CEO, Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce. “We look forward to working with Patrick and Christin as we identify and mentor the next generation of blue economy-based entrepreneurs and businesses that will create sustainable year-round economic vitality for the region.”
