WHAT: The Cape Cod Blue Economy Foundation’s Big Blue Conference is a two-day event that will explore issues central to the Cape Cod economy where it meets sea, sky, and shoreline. Attendees will learn about innovations in renewable energy, coastal resiliency, wildlife preservation, and clean water. From electric aviation to marine mammal rescue, this year’s Big Blue Conference is intended for Cape and Islands businesses and residents curious about the impact of climate change, renewable energy, and the health of our coastal ecosystem.

WHEN:  Day One – Tuesday, April 30, 10:00am to 4:00pm

              Day Two – Wednesday, May 1, 8:00am to 2:00pm

SCHEDULE:

Day One of The Big Blue Conference will feature the future of electrification. Learn about EV charging, the airport’s new microgrid, and the future of flight. Features speakers include Dan Wolf, founder of Cape Air and Ken Kimmell, Chief Development Officer with Avangrid. Emmy Award winning WCVB-TV Channel 5 anchor and reporter Rhondella Richardson will serve as emcee.

Day Two of The Big Blue Conference will explore our relationship with water. From the ocean that surrounds us to the groundwater that sustains us, presentations will include Cape Cod’s leadership in marine mammal rescue and research, coastal resiliency, and the impact of climate change on clean water. Featured speakers include marine biologist Dr. Greg Skomal. WBZ-TV Channel 4 Chief Meteorologist Eric Fisher will host the second day of the event.

The Big Blue Expo featuring The Battle of the Robots takes place Tuesday, April 30, 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Cape Cod Gateway Airport Terminal. Cape Cod student robotic teams put their robot creations to the test. The best bot wins! Participating this year: Falmouth High School, Monomoy Middle and High School, Nauset Regional High School.
