Cape Cod Foundation Awards Additional Grants

The Cape Cod Foundation has deployed an additional $200,000 in relief funds to 10 local nonprofit organizations providing critical services to Cape Cod communities. To date, the organization has distributed a total of $780,000 in grants from its Strategic Emergency Response Fund to 39 nonprofit organizations serving the Cape Cod region.

The foundation chose five organizations to receive a total of $140,000 in funding from the Massachusetts COVID-19 Relief Fund this round:  Cape Cod Council of Churches; Gosnold Inc.; Kennedy Donovan Center; Latham Centers Inc; and National Alliance on Mental Illness Cape Cod and Islands.

The foundation also awarded $60,000 from its Strategic Emergency Response Fund to the Community Development Partnership; WE CAN, Calmer Choice, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Cape & Islands; and Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod.

“The Cape Cod Council of Churches is serving more than 800 meals each week through its Cape Cod Family Table Collaborative,” said Kristin O’Malley, president and CEO of The Cape Cod Foundation.  “The funds distributed to several other nonprofit organizations serving people with disabilities will help purchase personal protection equipment and provide hazard pay for front life staff.”

O’Malley said the Community Development Partnership is providing technical assistance and training for small businesses working to re-open and administering a forgivable loan program for business owners in low-to-moderate income brackets.

“We have also provided funding to several nonprofit organizations serving children and vulnerable populations so that they can continue programming in response to COVID-19,” O’Malley added.

The Cape Cod Foundation has raised just over $1.1 million for its Strategic Emergency Response Fund from discretionary resources, individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations.  More grants to address the immediate and long-term needs of the community due to the pandemic are planned.
