Cape Destinations and All Cape Truck Service, leaders in the transportation and fleet vehicle repair business on Cape Cod, announce the sale of both business to Raphael Richter, President of Mercedes Cab Company, Inc. d/b/a Pilgrim Transit, Mayflower Trolley & Excursions, The Funk Bus and Cape Cab. Transfer of ownership is expected before the end of July.

Cape Destinations was founded in 1998 by Peggy Garrahan and Jay Kavanaugh who felt the Cape could support a passenger transportation company and grew Cape Destinations to Cape Cod’s most diverse transportation company with 100 vehicles and more than 80 employees. At the same time, they continued to grow All Cape Truck Service, which is now one of the leading providers of fleet maintenance and towing services on Cape Cod.

“Cape Destinations and All Cape Truck weren’t for sale, but when we were approached by Raphael, we saw an opportunity to keep our beloved company local and take care of the employees who are like family to us,” said Garrahan. “After our first meeting, we knew that Raphael was the right person to continue the 25-year legacy of excellence in customer service and commitment to our coworkers that has made Cape Destinations what it is today. We are thrilled to watch Raphael and his team take Cape Destinations and All Cape Truck into the future.”

Richter is a local entrepreneur who has lived on Cape Cod his entire life. He and his wife Vida are both graduates of Provincetown High School and currently live in Truro along with their two children. Vida co-founded and operates The Nor’East Beer Garden in Provincetown. Raphael is passionate about creating sustainable communities and volunteers extensively on local boards and committees.

“I am very excited to continue to grow and diversify Mercedes Cab Company with the addition of Cape Destinations and make us the Cape and Southeastern Massachusetts’ premier transportation company,” Richter said. “Having All Cape Truck will allow us to continue to keep our fleet in meticulous condition in-house. I have already started meeting and working with the Cape Destinations / All Cape Truck team and love the family atmosphere and plan to continue in that spirit while continuing to achieve new and ambitious goals.”

Richter intends to keep the team at Cape Destinations together and hopes to offer additional positions for any member that wants to expand their role. Gretchen Williams will be assuming the new role of Director of Operations and Rob Lowe will continue as All Cape Truck’s shop manager.
