Cape Rail Study Virtual Meeting Set For Nov. 19

The Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization will host the first Advisory Group meeting to discuss a proposal for extending year-round passenger rail to Cape Cod with connections to Middleborough and Wareham.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation and a consultant team will evaluate the Cape Rail Study and describe existing conditions, and develop the purpose, need and potential alternatives for the analysis.

The meeting will be held virtually on Thursday, Nov.19, 2020 and will be open to the public. Use this link to join the meeting:

The Advisory Group, including representation from the Town of Bourne and other key regional and local stakeholders, will provide input throughout the study process. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the meeting and participate during the public comment portion of the agenda.

Input from the first Advisory Group meeting will be important in establishing the framework for the
study. Following the meeting, MassDOT and the consultant team will estimate potential ridership as well
as capital and operating costs associated with alternatives developed through the process. Outcomes will
be reviewed and discussed at a second Advisory Group meeting.
