CARE for the Cape and Islands is now accepting applications for its 5-Year Anniversary Grant. The grant, for up to $5,000, will be awarded on November 2 at the 5-Year Anniversary celebration to be held at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod.
This special grant will be awarded in recognition of CARE’s 5 Year Anniversary and to highlight 2017 as the UN’s International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. The goal of the UN is to promote tourism in five key areas: (1) Inclusive and sustainable economic growth (2) Social inclusiveness, employment and poverty reduction (3) Resource efficiency, environmental protection and climate change (4) Cultural values, diversity and heritage (5) Mutual understanding, peace and security.
To be considered, grant proposals must directly affect the visitor experience, fit within at least one of the five funding themes including Sense of Place, Environmental Stewardship, Carbon Footprint Reduction, Infrastructure for Community Livability, and Food and Culture and include specific characteristics such as to be completed with one-time funding.
Successful proposals will include specific, measurable outcomes based on a triple bottom line perspective and contain project objectives that will be attained through the proposed activities. The grant application and more information about grant criteria can be found on careforthecapeandislands.org/project-criteria/.
Earlier this year, CARE for the Cape and Islands awarded 6 grants which ranged from $500-$2000. CARE grants enable recipients to complete innovative proposals and initiatives that support the development of a vibrant tourism economy that keeps the integrity of the culture, environment, and the heritage of the Cape and Islands in tact.
CARE for the Cape and Islands was founded in 2012 “To Create A Responsible Environment” by connecting visitors, residents and businesses with educational and stewardship opportunities that support local organizations and projects committed to the long-term sustainability of the region.
