Children’s Free Dental Sealant Clinics Also Offered in March and April
In addition to comprehensive dental hygiene care, the Wilkens Family Dental Hygiene Clinic also offers free dental sealant applications for young people age 6 through 18. Sealants can reduce cavities by more than 60%, by creating a barrier over the teeth, protecting them from disease-causing bacteria. The next sealant clinics will be held Thursday March 29, and Thursday April 19, for treatments at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. Appointments must be made for one of these times on clinic days.
The clinic is located in the ground floor of the M.M. Wilkens Hall, reached through the lower floor entrance, up a short walkway from the intersection of Parking Lots 4 and 5, on the West Barnstable campus of the College.
Sealants create a barrier over the teeth, protecting them from bacteria that eats into the teeth and destroys gum tissue. Treatment is provided by CCCC Dental Hygiene program students, supervised by licensed Dental Hygienists, and Dentists.
Patients first will be screened by a licensed dentist to determine the appropriate treatment process for the sealants. That screening is provided free of charge, as well.
Persons should call the Clinic and make a sealant appointment as soon as possible at: 774-330-4371.
