CCYP Appoints New Board Members

Cape Cod Young Professionals (CCYP), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works to shape the Cape by creating opportunities for the local workforce and aspiring Cape leaders to connect, engage, advance, and lead, has appointed three new members to its board of directors.

The new board members are Matt Scinto, Tara Vargas Wallace and Casey Chatelain.

Scinto is the founder and current Music Director of the Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra, Music Director for the Civic Orchestra of New Haven and Director of Music at Pilgrim Church in Harwich Port and as a cover conductor for the Portland Maine Symphony. Scinto has also been involved in Alzheimer’s care for the past several years, working with memory care facilities at Maplewood Senior Living and the Alzheimer’s Family Support Center, using aspects of music appreciation and conducting in a curriculum he devised for individuals dealing with memory loss.

Tara Vargas Wallace is founder of the nonprofit organization, Amplify POC Cape Cod, a racial justice initiative with a mission to eliminate the racial wealth gap for communities of color on Cape Cod and beyond. Her professional experience has been in working with marginalized populations with severe socio-economic challenges, such as family trauma, addiction and recovery, domestic and sexual violence, barriers to employment, and extreme housing and food insecurity. She worked more than 20 years in human services for various Cape agencies including Housing Assistance Corporation, Independence House, Homeless Prevention Council and Department of Transitional Assistance.

Casey Chatelain is currently the Deputy Director at Barnstable Clean Water Coalition, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to restore and preserve clean water throughout Barnstable. She previously worked for the Barnstable Land Trust and served on the Town of Barnstable’s Water Resources Advisory Committee. Chatelain currently serves as chair of the CCYP Connect Events Committee.
