Shortly after Jitka Borowick graduated from Cape Cod Community College in 2008 with an associate’s degree in Liberal Arts, she started cleaning houses. It was the beginning of a larger goal for Borowick to create a successful residential and commercial cleaning company that was committed to minimizing its impact on the environment.

Fifteen years later, Cleangreen has grown from a one-person enterprise into a company that now employs over 20 people full-time on a year-round basis, has a fleet of energy efficient vehicles, and has been recognized on a local, regional, and national level for the positive impact it has had on customers and its community.

“When I started Cleangreen, I was still learning the English language. I knew I had to forge my own path in order to land a job that properly utilized my skills and talents,” said Borowick, who is originally from the Czech Republic. “I am incredibly proud of how much we have grown from our humble beginnings when I did everything from answering phones to cleaning homes to landing clients to marketing an unknown company. None of this would be possible without the incredible team we have assembled here at Cleangreen which shares a common desire to provide quality cleaning services while maintaining a commitment to protecting our environment.”

Borowick, her colleagues, their friends and families, and Cleangreen clients celebrated the company’s 15th anniversary with a private party on June 29 at Nové Yoga & Wellness in West Dennis, which Borowick opened in 2020.

Under Borowick’s leadership, Cleangreen was named Business of the Year in 2014 from the Hyannis Chamber of Commerce. She was awarded Business Woman of the Year in 2015 from Cape & Plymouth Business Magazine, 2016 Small Business Owner of the Year from Cape Cod SCORE, Enterprising Woman of the Year Award in 2019, and received the Immigrant Learning Center’s Barry M. Portnoy Immigrant Entrepreneur Award for Outstanding Neighborhood Business in 2022.

She is a past president of the Rotary Club of Hyannis, a trustee at Cape Cod Academy, and a corporator of the Cape Cod Five Mutual Company.
