Community Development Partnership Offers Free Shopify Workshop

The Community Development Partnership will host a free “Shopify for Small Business” workshop Wednesday, June 24, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and participants can join remotely via Zoom meeting.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, local businesses on the Lower and Outer Cape have been hit hard, struggling to retain staff, pay the bills and pivot their business models.  Although many are now in the process of reopening, the expectation is that revenue will be down due to social distancing protocols that will curtail the number of customers physically allowed in any restaurant or retail space.

Some businesses have been able to maintain cash flow throughout the pandemic by selling their products or services online whether it is food, clothing, art or cleaning supplies. Online commerce is a marketing opportunity that can help some businesses weather these uncertain times as well as increase their customer base for the future.

In this 90-minute workshop, business owners and their staff can learn how to set up and launch an online store using Shopify. The workshop will include a discussion about products, inventory, taxes, shipping, fulfillment, and more. Chris O’Brien, founder of the award-winning Cape-based web design studio Dative, will lead the training session.
