Duffy Announces ‘Zero Proof’ Fund-raising Event

Duffy Health Center has announced a new fund-raising event, “Zero Proof Cape Cod: A Local Event with a Mission.”

The event will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, at 6 p.m. at Wychmere Beach Club in Harwich Port.

Chefs from select restaurants will curate a menu item and Zero Proof Libation (no alcohol) to showcase. Restaurants from Cape restaurants will feature signature menu items paired with signature Zero Proof Libations.

The idea is modeled on a successful “chef’s table” Zero Proof event that was started by Chef Gabriel Rucker of Portland, Ore.

“Our annual gala ‘suitcase party’ reached its apex last spring, and we are evolving our event model to engage our supporters and members of our community in new and different ways,” said Heidi Nelson, Duffy CEO. “The Zero Proof concept is in support of the sober/sober-curious movement that has gained a lot of momentum and cultural influence across the country.”

Many Duffy Health Center patients are in active recovery and many more have diagnoses of substance use disorder. Several Duffy staff and board members are also in active recovery. Alcohol remains the number one abused substance on the Cape at a tremendous cost to communities and families. The creation of Zero Proof Cape Cod demonstrates commitment to those in the Duffy recovery community and beyond, Nelson said.

Event sponsorships are available. For more information, contact Sara Grambach, Director of Development and Community Relations at 508-771-7517, ext. 104.
