HYANNIS, MA, ISSUED April 15, 2024…… The 8th Annual Charter Cup Fishing Tournament will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Baxter’s Fish ‘N Chips.
Since its inception in 2017, the Charter Cup Fishing Tournament has raised over $1.6 million. The tournament gives 100% of funds raised to participating non-profit groups that provide much needed services including emergency flights for critically ill patients, physical/mental fitness for people in recovery, and programs for physically/mentally challenged adults. It also supports children fighting cancer, early childhood education, local law enforcement efforts, at-risk youth programs, affordable housing projects, quality programs designed to empower youth, and affordable healthcare for diabetics.
This year the 8th Annual Charter Cup Fishing Tournament, to be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, will raise funds for Angel Flight NE, Barnstable Police K9 Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod and the Islands, Cape Abilities, Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod, Housing Assistance Corp. (HAC), Joslin Diabetes Center, May Institute, Nantucket Boys & Girls Club, Special Olympics, Tommy’s Place, WellStrong, Yarmouth Police Foundation, and YMCA Cape Cod.
The Charter Cup welcomes back the Battle of the Badges which is a “tournament within a tournament” where First Responders compete with each other for the Heaviest Striped Bass & Bluefish Awards. First responders interested in participating with fishing boats can register by contacting Captain Jeff Perry of the Dennis Fire Department at perrymarinesurveying@gmail.com.
The tournament invites the community to support this special event by donating to one of the participating charities. To donate, please make checks payable to the charity (listed above) of your choice. If one wishes to donate to multiple charities, checks need to be made out individually. Donations can be in the amount(s) of $5,000, $2,500, $1,000, $750, $500, or $250 (but any donation amount is accepted and greatly appreciated.) Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
