Entrepreneurship for All (EforAll) Cape Cod is teaming up with Provincetown Commons to bring the “Blue Economy Pitch Contest” to Cape Cod on Wednesday, April 19.

The pitch contest will be held in person at Provincetown Commons from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and the application to pitch is open to all residents of Barnstable County. The event is sponsored by a Massachusetts EOHED Urban Agenda Grant.

Each participant will be given two and a half minutes to pitch their business or non-profit idea within the theme of “Blue Economy” to a panel of judges and the audience. All ideas that leverage Cape Cod’s marine environment are welcome. Examples include ideas around marine science and technology, commercial fishing, coastal resiliency, sea-to-table food, and goods and services featuring marine life.

Attendance is free but advance registration is strongly recommended. An all-you-can-eat raw bar will be operated by Half Shelled Raw Bar Company featuring local shellfish.

At the end of the night EforAll will give away $2,750 in seed money to help launch ideas in the community. The first place finisher will win $1,000; second place $750; third place $500; and audience favorite $500. The event is an example of EforAll’s mission of using innovative means to foster entrepreneurial growth on Cape Cod.

“Cape Cod has 560 miles of coastline. Our coast, ocean, and marine resources are integral to the culture and economy of Cape Cod. It felt like a natural fit to offer Cape Codders a chance to share their “blue” business ideas for a chance to win money to help move those ideas forward,” said Christin Marshall, Executive Director of EforAll Cape.

Workshops will be held in advance of the pitch contest to train contestants on how to pitch their idea at the event. Contest participants will be selected from a pool of applicants by a panel of volunteer readers from the community. Interested pitchers and audience members can find more information, an application, and RSVP information at https://bit.ly/CCBluePitch; the deadline to apply to pitch is Friday, March 31, at noon.
