Eversource Energy has made a donation of $62,000 to support the Cape and Islands United Way’s critical efforts to tackle the most pressing issues facing local families and individuals.

This financial support will help allow the Cape & Islands United Way to continue providing critical food security, affordable housing, health and early childhood education services directly to families in the area.

This is the third year Eversource Charitable Foundation has supported the Cape and Islands United Way with this significant grant.

“The work that you’ve done to help our communities over the past few years continues to be amazing,” said Theresa Hopkins-Staten, president of Eversource Foundation and vice president of Corporate Citizenship and Equity.

Mark Skala, president/CEO of the Cape and Islands United Way, noted that $20,000 of the $62,000 will support the organization’s micro-grant program.

“These small grants are making a big impact in so many areas because of our generous donors,” Skala said.  Learn more here: MICRO GRANTS| Cape and Islands United Way.

The remaining grant money will be used to support the Cape and Islands United Way collaborations and partnerships around early childhood education, families and wellness.

“We are dedicated to supporting the United Way’s mission and its local agencies that deliver life-changing services in the communities we proudly serve every day,” added Hopkins-Staten. “Not only are our employees committed to making a direct impact through these local non-profits by reaching into their own pockets year after year, they volunteer thousands of hours annually to help make a difference for those in need.”
