Fairway Financial has signed on as Heroes In Transition’s latest Community Partner. In that role, Fairway Financial is providing consistent year-round support that allows HIT to not only deliver programs for service members, veterans, and military families, but take meaningful steps in its growth.
“I decided to become a Community Partner because I wanted to help them as much as I could. The work they do is just amazing. It is really impressive,” said Fairway Financial owner Steve Anzuoni. “They are doing such a great job helping our military get re-acclimated to society. For me, there is also the local aspect. They are helping local veterans so you can see the impact directly in our community.”
Last year, Anzuoni was introduced to HIT President Cyndy Jones and HIT when his company became a major sponsor for the Veteran’s Top Shot Invitational, a combined golf tournament held annually in the spring and a shooting tournament held in September, which raises funds for both HIT and the Nicholas G. Xiarhos Memorial Foundation Fund. Through that sponsorship, Fairway Financial underwrote a radio advertising campaign that highlighted HIT’s programs and services which includes a spring and fall Couples Retreat, equine therapy for veterans and military families, financial assistance for veterans, and bimonthly outings for veterans and service members, military couples, military spouses and military families.
“Steve and his staff have really become an extension of the Heroes In Transition family and it’s been rewarding to develop this relationship that allows our organization to make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve,” said HIT Executive Director Nicole Spencer. “We’re grateful that Fairway Financial and Steve have stepped up as a Community Partner. We can’t do our work without the support of businesses in the community that understand the importance of giving back to individuals and families who sacrifice so much for our country.”
Among its contributions to HIT, Fairway Financial organized an info session in May at Sea Dog Brew Pub in Yarmouth, in which its clients learned about the nonprofit’s work and heard from a military couple that have benefitted from its programs.
Supporting the military and first responders is close to Anzuoni’s heart. His father was a police officer and his brother Robert served in the 82nd Airborne and previously was the director of the 82nd Airborne Division War Memorial Museum in Fort Bragg, N.C.
“I like to help people and make sure they can either get retired or stay retired by making sure their money is safe,” he said. “It is gratifying to be able to help others. It is the same feeling I have with giving to and helping an organization like Heroes In Transition.”
Anzuoni, who is the host of Ready, Set, Retire Radio which airs Saturday morning at 6 a.m. on WXTK, is also a longtime supporter of the Cape Cod Baseball League.
