January 2, 2019 –First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union reflects on the many ways they gave back to their local communities in 2018.
In the spirit of holiday giving, First Citizens’ donated over $22,000 to local charities and organizations throughout the Southcoast, South Shore and Cape Cod regions. In addition, they offered a unique way to give back to organizations that matter the most to their customers through a Facebook #GiftofGiving campaign. Each week, a winner was selected to choose the local nonprofit of their choice to receive a $250 donation from First Citizens’ on their behalf.  Holiday donations were made to organizations such as PAACA in New Bedford, Lower Cape Outreach Council, Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen in Taunton, the Raynham Food Basket, South Shore Community Action Council, Family Pantry of Cape Cod and several more.
Although December is a significant month for donations for First Citizens’, the commitment to the communities they serve happens throughout the entire year. This is highlighted through participation and contributions to several organizations and charities. In total, over $53,000 was donated to local nonprofits in 2018.
Lastly, First Citizens’ highlights their involvement in the community by crediting their employees for volunteering 1000 hours in 2018. Many volunteer opportunities came from organizations such as the United Way, Relay for Life, Laundry Love, Housing Assistance Corporation and Rise Up for Homes.  Their mission and core values are centered around supporting and improving the community.
