Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth Seeking Landscaping Volunteers

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth (HFHGP; www.hfhplymouth.org) is seeking volunteers on May 1 and May 8 to help with landscaping tasks at their newly completed three-home site on Long Pond Road in Plymouth.

The three Habitat homeowners helped to build their own homes alongside volunteers.  Pandemic restrictions caused a prolonged building process, but all three have recently been completed. Two of the homes are designated for single-mother military veterans and their children.

All are welcome to participate in the landscaping effort, including high school students in search of community service hours necessary for graduation.  No experience is necessary.  Work will begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue until approximately 3 p.m.  Volunteers must sign up for the dates they plan to help by clicking on the orange button labeled “Sign up for Landscaping at Long Pond Rd” at www.hfhplymouth.org.   Volunteers should wear gloves, sunscreen and facemasks and bring gardening tools, such as spades, shovels and hand tools. Wheelbarrows are also helpful.

More efforts are under way to identify and secure new land throughout the HFHGP’s region, which includes Plymouth, Kingston, Carver, Middleboro, Plympton and Lakeville, in order to help address the significant increasing need for affordable workforce housing.
