Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod’s 5th annual Ride for Homes fundraising bike ride will kick off Sunday, Sept, 11, 2022, in Bourne, raising money to continue the mission of building affordable homes on Cape Cod.
The ride raised more than $107,000 in 2021, helping several local Cape Cod families.
The event begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Aptucxet Trading Post Museum in Bourne, which is where the ride begins and ends.
Participants have the option of riding a 40-mile scenic route to Woods Hole and back, a 20-mile route from the Aptuxcet Trading Post Museum along the Cape Cod Canal and around Mashnee Island, or a 12-mile route along the Cape Cod Canal. There will be a BBQ following the Ride.
The registration fee is $25 and the fundraising minimum is $300.
“I ride for Habitat because I feel that people should have an opportunity for clean, safe, and affordable housing,” said event co-chair Ron Winner.
In the past 34 years, Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod has developed more than 165 affordable homes on Cape Cod. Local families help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. The homes are deed-restricted to remain affordable in perpetuity.
