Housing Assistance Corporation is inviting interested applicants 55 and older to a virtual info session for 27 affordable apartments being built at Serenity Apartments in Brewster, on Wednesday, May 11, at 5:30 p.m. Register for the session, which will be held on Zoom, at haconcapecod.org/lotteries.
Housing Assistance is overseeing the affordable housing lottery for the 27 apartments. which are being built as part of a refreshed and renovated 270-unit development. The lottery units include 17 studios and 11 one-bedroom apartments, with rents (including utilities) ranging from $1,261 to $1,361 per month.
“It’s rare to have so many affordable rental units in one location,” said Housing Assistance’s Director of Real Estate Gael Kelleher. “We are grateful to the town of Brewster for their efforts in bringing this project into reality. This is a great opportunity for qualifying seniors who want to live in independent housing that is close to shopping, dining and state parks.”
Applications for the Serenity Apartments can be filled out online on Housing Assistance’s website, haconcapecod.org/lotteries. Hard copies can be found at Housing Assistance’s Hyannis office at 460 West Main St. as well as at Brewster Town Hall and the Brewster Ladies’ Library.
The deadline to submit an application is Friday, July 1, at 5 p.m. The lottery drawing will be held within 30 days of the application deadline.
Eligible applicants must be 55 years of age or older to apply and have income at or below 80 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI) for Barnstable County. Those limits are $54,450 for a one-person household and $62,200 for a two-person household.
