ABINGTON, FALMOUTH, MA, ISSUED OCTOBER 28, 2024… Jacquie Collins, principal of Partnering for Performance, a consulting firm specializing in leadership development and executive coaching, was selected as a presenter at the 2024 Massachusetts Councils on Aging (MCOA) Fall Conference, and led a session entitled, “Leadership in Action,” on October 24 at the conference site, which was held at the Seacrest Resort in Falmouth.
“Leadership in Action” is designed to give participants real-life application of core leadership skills. A highly interactive session, Collins led the group of Councils on Aging Directors (of mixed experience levels) and others from organizations who support the COAs in an examination of the three components that comprise a successful leader: Leading Yourself; Leading Others; and Leading the Organization. Each component has its own set of competencies, as well as core skill sets.
Collins created this presentation from a program she originally developed, and which she then customized based on the Councils on Aging audience.
A sought-after advisor to nonprofit leaders, Collins has previously worked with MCOA, facilitating and presenting the Leadership in Action online training course for new Council on Aging directors throughout Massachusetts. This six-session training series also focused on three areas of leadership development, going into greater depth with each of them.
In these sessions, Collins led participants through multiple exercises and small group discussions, all designed to assist new COA directors in their crucial role of serving older adults and enhancing organizational programs. Topics include emotional intelligence; mindset; executive function regarding planning, execution and problem solving; critical thinking skills; communication and decision making; and collaboration and team building.
“I sincerely enjoy my work with the Massachusetts Councils on Aging, and appreciate all the support they provide for seniors within our communities, as well as our communities as a whole,” said Collins. “I’m grateful to the MCOA for selecting me to help shape and guide their current and future leaders.”
Massachusetts Councils on Aging (MCOA) is a nonprofit membership association of the 350 municipal councils on aging and senior centers. COAs are the first stop on the continuum of care. The organization supports 1.7 million older adults, 60 and over in Massachusetts, in leading healthy, purposeful lives.
In addition to MCOA, Partnering for Performance has worked with a number of nonprofit organizations over the years, including Cardinal Cushing Centers, NeighborWorks Housing Solutions, Father Bill’s & Mainspring, and The Arc of the South Shore, among others.
