Kathy DeMeyer is the new owner and CEO of Encore Construction in Dennis, effective immediately.

DeMeyer has been with Encore for more than 19 years and has been the company’s general manager for the past three. Dale Nikula, Encore Construction’s founder, will keep working for the company during the transition period.

“I’m happy to see that a business I started 26 years ago has flourished into a successful remodeling company,” said Nikula, “and with Kathy as the new owner and CEO, I am confident Encore will continue to offer our clients the service and workmanship that they expect from us.”

DeMeyer obtained her Construction Supervisor license 25 years ago, and has worked in the construction industry for just as long. She started at Encore as the office manager and was promoted to production manager and then general manager before becoming the owner.

“I am honored to be leading Encore into its next generation of growth,” said DeMeyer “We have a great team and our clients see that outcome in each project that we design and build for them.”

According to Constructech, only 13 percent of construction companies are women-owned, and there are even less women-owned construction companies on Cape Cod. This did not deter DeMeyer in pursuing leadership roles within professional organizations.

In 2017 DeMeyer was elected and installed as the first woman Chapter President of the Eastern Massachusetts National Association of the Remodeling Industry (EM NARI), now called the Professional Remodeling Organization New England. She represented over 200 members during her term.

In addition, DeMeyer is involved in the Cape Cod community, servicing in numerous leadership capacities including serving as the Immediate Past President of the Dennis Chamber of Commerce, a Board Member of the Home Builders & Remodeling Association of Cape Cod, and a Mentor at WE CAN.

DeMeyer is a native of Stoneham and currently lives in Dennis.
