Local Museums Win Prestigious Publication Awards

The New England Museum Association (NEMA) has announced that museums on Cape Cod and Plymouth have won recognition in the 2023 Publication Awards Competition.

This competition recognizes excellence in design, production, programming, and effective communication in both print and digital publishing. The awards celebrate the often unacknowledged outreach and communication work that museums do regularly through print and digital media publications. All current NEMA institutional members are eligible to enter the competition.

Overall, the winning submissions from 11 categories impressed the judges with their sophisticated simplicity, vibrant colors, and clever design. This year the competition included 203 submissions from 60 museums. Publications spanned the years 2020 – 2023, since the awards program was paused during the COVID-19 pandemic. Competition winners will be recognized and exhibited at the Annual NEMA conference in Portland, Maine  Nov. 8 through 10.

Local winners were:

Books, museums under $500K, second place, Nye Museum, Sandwich, “The 17th Century World of Benjamin Nye & Katherine Tupper,” exhibition catalog.

Newsletters & Magazines, museums over $500K, second place, Plimoth Patuxet Museums for “Plimoth Patuxet Life: The Thanksgiving Edition.”
